“They call me Mother”
When Jussi Biørn steps into his attic and reopens old suitcases left after his grandmother, his life is about to change. He finds her diaries, photographs and maps, medical equipment and newspaper clippings. Jussi is captivated. He decides to travel in his grandmother’s footsteps and search for his own Armenian origin. He is confronted with a disaster of enormous proportions, the Armenian Genocide of 1915. Bodil Katharina Biørn (1871-1960) was a Norwegian pioneer, nurse and missionary. She devoted her life to helping the Armenian people, especially the children. She witnessed the Armenian Genocide up close, an experience that nearly took her life.
